Pressure Washing

Pressure washing and power washing are pretty much two different ways of saying the same thing. This refers to using high pressure water spraying to blast away dirt, mud, grime and other stains from concrete surfaces. The volume of water being sprayed is usually expressed in gallons per minute and there is a range of about 4 gallons per minute up to 10 gallons per minute depending on the machine being used. Another metric is PSI, which stands for pounds per square inch. The range here can be from 700-30,000 psi.

Here are few of examples of when we use pressure washing rather than soft washing. First, the most common surface for pressure washing is concrete surfaces like driveways and sidewalks. In this case, a round surface cleaner is used. This is an attachment to the machine which sprays evenly through the covered bottom and doesn’t leave streaks. Small nozzles on the head of a rapidly spinning arm produce a smooth, even cleaning path as the arm rotates around an enclosed disk. It’s like walking behind a lawn mower but the blade sprays high pressure water instead of cutting grass as it spins. Streaks or “tiger stripes” occur when using a gun or wand to clean concrete but a surface cleaner delivers effortless even cleaning. Another example of pressure washing is using a gun or wand to restore fencing, wood decks, and other areas that a surface cleaner can’t get to. Pressure washing might also be used for things like playground equipment, signage, outdoor furnishings, or heavily stained smaller areas like dumpster pads, garden pavers, or tombstones.
