It’s very important to understand the difference between pressure washing and soft washing when considering exterior cleaning services and contractors. Pressure washing is appropriate for surfaces such as concrete, decks, and fencing. Pressure washing is common for driveways, sidewalks, recreational surfaces and some other outdoor flooring and furnishing materials. These types of surfaces will not sustain damage or deterioration as a result of high-pressure water blasting. It’s important to know that your exterior cleaning contractor has the training and experience to know when it is appropriate to use a pressure washing strategy for cleaning. We would caution homeowners and business owners against using contractors that only offer pressure washing and not soft washing.

Soft washing is an exterior cleaning strategy that uses less pressure than a garden hose. We use this approach to cleaning the roof and walls of your home. We use specially designed low pressure nozzles at the tip of a standard pressure washing gun. There are various size nozzles that regulate things like distance and volume. We use a variety of unique cleaning solutions that are designed specifically for the soft washing approach. We allow an adequate and appropriate amount of “dwell time” for the solution to kill and remove biological stains such as algae, pollen, dirt, moss and other types of stains. Not only does this approach clean surfaces safely and efficiently, but it also contributes to longer lasting paint and masonry building materials.

Sometimes, customers attempt exterior cleaning themselves with rented machines or perhaps even with a pressure washer they own. They mistakenly think they can just do it themselves but end up with greater frustration and heartache. They usually end up with “tiger stripes” because they don’t have the knowledge, patience, equipment, or professional grade cleaning solutions that we possess. After they spend time and money trying to do it themselves, they end up calling a professional to fix their mistakes. We always take time to educate our customers and would be happy to answer any questions you might have about the differences between soft washing and pressure washing.
